About us

On a beautiful day in August 2004, we had a big church wedding with all our friends and family wishing us well. In July 2009, we adopted Luke, who is a wonderfully happy child, incredibly sociable and clearly would be a lovely older brother!

Frances loves being a stay at home mom, and Mat works from home a lot. Frances takes Luke to the local church playgroup and meets friends with children for play dates and visits to the park. We (especially Frances) go to church regularly, and spend a lot of our weekends visiting family. We always spend Christmas with family – Mat’s family one year, and Frances’s the next – in both our families this involves a big tree, church, singing, piles of presents, and a large meal!

We love going away on the weekends to the country and took Luke on his first camping trip last summer. We all love the ocean, and spent last summer holiday by the sea where Luke had a really fun time! - it is great for children, playing in the waves and sand, building sand castles, discovering nature by exploring rock pools, collecting shells and going shrimping. Since adopting Luke we have (very happily!) had less time for other interests– films, theatre, and shows, but still manage to have our “date night” once a week, and we enjoy introducing Luke to fun things like the near-by natural history museum with its famous dinosaurs, and the science museum which has a great interactive play area for small children. In addition to hiking & the outdoors, Frances’s hobbies include reading novels and playing the piano, and Mat loves building model steam trains and fixing things.

We live in Britain, but visit the US regularly to see family and friends – Frances is a US citizen and lived and worked there; Matthew also has family and friends there. We enjoy travelling and exploring other cultures. Before we met, we had both lived and worked overseas and we both speak French & Spanish. For the next few years we plan to vacation in Britain & the US, but once Luke – and, hopefully, another brother or sister - are old enough, we will vacation in other countries again, and introduce them to the wider world. We live in London which is a very cosmopolitan city, and are just moving to a beautiful house on the edge of London surrounded by fields.
